Meet Your Coaches

Ryan Perkins

Head Coach

Get to know me:

I help coach the Learn to Play kids, I got into hockey back when the Kearney YMCA had roller hockey as a youth sport. I was 4 at the time. And have been playing ice hockey ever since. My favorite part of being a coach is being able to see the kids grow into the game of hockey, as well as just to have fun out on the ice.

Watching kids learn something they didn't know how to do and get excited about it is the best part of hockey! Growing up, we would start a game of hockey and kids would come and go for hours. We called it “bloody blades” and it became the highlight for all the kids. Hockey develops physical and mental skills that will be useful lifelong!

Logan Dowhy

Assistant Coach

Get to know me:

My father was born and raised in Canada so it was just in my blood to play hockey. I started the first year Tri-City had a youth program.

The best thing about coaching is watching the young kids progress from not able to stand on the ice to playing the game.

Tyson Murphy

Assistant Coach

Get to know me:

I love seeing the moment where a skill or technique 'clicks' for someone learning something new. Some of my best memories are playing floor hockey in garages with friends. It is impossible not to fall in love with the game.

Jason Heater

Assistant Coach

Get to know me:

Sharing my love of the game with the kiddos & seeing their confidence grow as they learn new skills is my favorite part. My mom bought me my first stick at age 10 after attending an Avalanche game and I've been around the game since.  I appreciate the opportunity to share the game that we all love.
